Faces and voices of Superman actors


Ray Middleton appeared in the first ever public appearance of Superman in July 1940 at the DC Comics Superman Day at the New York World's Fair.

Bud Collyer voiced Superman on the 1940 radio show The Adventures of Superman, later reprising the role in the 1940 Fleischer animated short and Filmation's The New Adventures of Superman. In 1950, Michael Fitzmaurice became the voice of Superman on the 1940 radio show The Adventures of Superman.

Kirk Alyn played Superman in the 1948 movie Superman and 1950 movie Superman vs. Atom Man.

George Reeves portrayed Superman in the 1951 film Superman and the Mole Men and in the 1952-58 TV series The Adventures of Superman.

 
Bob Hastings voiced Superman in the 1966-1970 cartoon The New Adventures of Superman.

Bob Holiday played Superman in the 1966 Broadway musical It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman. He returned as Superman for the 1966 children's record The Official Adventures of Superman.


David Wilson played Superman in the 1975 TV comedy of It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman.

Christopher Reeve played Superman from 1978 to 1987 in the movies Superman - The Movie, Superman II, Superman III, Superman IV - The Quest for Peace.

 
Danny Dark voiced Superman in the 1980-1983 animated TV series SuperFriends.

Beau Weaver voiced Superman in the 1988 TV series Superman.

Dean Cain played Superman in the 1993-1997 TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

Tim Daly voiced Superman in the 1996–2000 Superman: The Animated Series and in the animated films Superman: Brainiac Attacks (2006)Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (2009) and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (2010). He has also played Superman in several computer and video games. (There's two lines right at the end. Enjoy the fight.)


Steve Kramer is said to have voiced Superman in the 1998 animated series Superman but I cannot find a record of it and it hasn't been confirmed on any of his sites that I've found.

Christopher McDonald voiced Superman in 1999-2001 animated TV series Batman Beyond aka Batman of the Future.

George Newbern voiced Superman in the 2001 animated TV series Justice League, the 2004-2006 animated TV series Justice League Unlimited, the 2007-2008 animated TV series The Batman and the 2010 video short Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam.

Tom Welling portrayed Clark Kent in the 2001-2011 television series Smallville.

Jeff Kramer voiced Superman in the 2002 game Superman: Man of Steel.

Michael Dangerfield Hall voiced Superman in the 2005 animated series Krypto the Superdog. (20 seconds in.)

Brandon Routh played Superman in 2006 movie Superman Returns.

Crispin Freeman voiced Superman in the 2006 game Justice League Heroes.

Yuri Lowenthal voiced Superman in the 2006-2008 animation series Legion of Superheroes.

Adam Baldwin voiced Superman in the 2007 animated feature Superman: Doomsday.

Christopher Corey Smith voiced Superman in 2008 game Mortal Kombat vs. DC Univserse.

Kyle MacLachlan voiced Superman in the 2008 direct-to-video animation Justice League: The New Frontier.

Roger Rose voiced Superman in 2008-2011 animated TV series Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Joseph May voiced Superman in the animated TV series Batman: Black and White during 2009.

Mark Harmon voiced Superman in the 2010 video Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths.

Nolan North voiced Superman and his clone Superboy in the 2010-present animated TV series Young Justice.

James Denton voiced Superman in 2011 animated movie All Star Superman.

Cooper Timberline portrays 9 year old Clark Kent in the yet to be released movie Man of Steel.

Dylan Sprayberry was cast as 13 year old Clark Kent in the yet to be released movie Man of Steel.

Henry Cavill portrays Superman in the yet to be released movie Man of Steel.
